Ajuga reptans Atropurpurea

A hardy perennial forming a dense mat of bronze - purple, spoon shaped leaves. A short, erect spike upto 15cm tall bearing blue flowers is produced in late spring into the autumn. Ajugas prefer shade to semi-shade (avoid full sun), excellent groundcover under trees / bushes, on banks or shady containers, good for North facing gardens in the UK. Spreads by strawberry style runners.
